Construction Phase The LIRR has revealed no details regarding the construction phase of the project.
As a result, we have far more questions than answers on this issue. We have heard estimates from seven (7)
to thirteen (13) years to complete the project. Based upon earlier projects, including the elevation of Floral
Park Station, Herricks Road Overpass and the ongoing Roslyn Road Project, we expect that the devastating
impact to all villages along the ten-mile main line corridor will be disastrous, and will most certainly have a
severe negative impact on our quality of life.  It will do nothing but reduce the values of the homes for which
we pay enormous property taxes

How long will the project take?

Will they proceed from West to East or East to West?

How long will any particular area be impacted?  For Example: Assuming the project is started in Hicksville
how long will the eastern most residents be impacted during the construction phase? Example:  The residents
of the eastern most 1,000 yards will be impacted for approximately _________ months/years.

What steps has the LIRR taken to alleviate the expected traffic problems?

Where will the LIRR store their supplies during the construction phase?

Where will the LIRR vehicles park during the workday?

Will the LIRR crews work 24/7?

Will they adhere to local village noise ordinances?

What has the LIRR said regarding additional (Garden City) space needed during the construction phase?

What discussions have taken place regarding construction easements?

What discussions have taken place about rodent infestations during construction?

What will MTA/LIRR do to test the soil around the track for contaminants before disrupting it and allowing hazardous (and possibly carcinogenic) pollutants to become airborne during construction?

What steps does the LIRR contemplate to reduce the noise and vibration levels during construction?

Parents have expressed concerns about the safety of their children during construction.

What steps will LIRR Human Resources take to ensure the workers are exemplary citizens without any
 criminal records?

What steps will the LIRR take to ensure that no sunken oil tanks will be ruptured as a result of additional vibrations during the construction phase?  If so, what recourse will the property owners have?
