Welcome to CYO St Joseph's Basketball!
The primary goal of
St. Joe’s CYO is to provide an opportunity for boys and
girls of the parish in grades 4 through 12 to play basketball in an
environment that is conducive to all levels of proficiency.
One of the key tenets of the program was to allow any boy or
girl in the parish and of every skill level the opportunity to play
basketball in a supportive and enthusiastic environment.
In this day of travel basketball, AAU, and competitive school
teams, the St. Joe’s CYO program allows every parish boy or girl
the opportunity to play right through high school.
The high level of participation at both the
Tyro and Senior levels is a testament to the goals of the program as
it provides boys and girls at the high school level a healthy and
fun activity. The
program and its philosophy is reflective of the dedication of
men and women of the parish who have been involved with CYO
over the years as coaches and coordinators.
We encourage all parishioners to become involved in the
program. Please feel
free to contact any of the members of the CYO Committee for further
information.
St. Joseph’s Basketball Wins Playoff
Berth, Advances
St
Joseph’s 5th Grade CYO team finished strong winning the last three
games of the season and edging out St. Agnes in the standings to
capture a playoff berth in the competitive #321 Nassau and Suffolk
County 5th grade boys ‘B’ league.
The 1st round playoffs were held on Sat March 12th
vs. St Barnabas, Bellmore. Through outstanding shooting, exceptional
defense and hustle, and overall great team play, St Joseph’s
poured it on in the 4th quarter to capture the win and advance to
the 2nd round.
With their coaches help, the boys improved
steadily as the season progressed, elevating their offensive and
defensive prowess through weekly practices focusing on fundamentals
and teamwork. This dedication has been a key element to their
achieving success.. Round #2 playoffs coming up vs. St. James in
Setauket. Good luck team!
